"Tekhnosfera Rossiya": the total number of systems is at least 120 units

The Russian military has at least 120 Pantsir-S1 and Pantsir-S2 anti-aircraft missile systems in service. This was reported by the publication "Tekhnosfera Rossiya" with reference to foreign sources.

Official information on the number of such weapons is classified. Typically, anti-aircraft systems operate in air defense units of various branches of service — from the Airborne Forces to the Navy.

Recall that the Pantsir-S air defense system is a short-range system. The ammunition load on the vehicle includes 12 ready-to-launch missiles and 1400 rounds for the cannons.

The system operates at a range of 1.2 to 20 km and at an altitude of up to 15 km. The maximum projectile flight speed is 1300 m/s, and two automatic cannons provide a total rate of up to 5000 rounds/min.

A standard air defense battery includes up to 6 combat vehicles. The system takes only 5 minutes to reach full combat readiness.

The Russian military noticed an unusual modernized version of the Pantsir-S1M, but with a new 1RS-3E radar station from the Pantsir-M version.
