New generation drilling rig launched at Kholmogorskoye field

Assembly of the 1600 hp, 52 MPa pressure complex now takes about 20 days

A new mobile drilling rig "Orbita", developed as part of a joint project between NaftaGaz and Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz, has been launched at the Kholmogorskoye field. The equipment was put into operation at cluster pad No. 26, where it has already begun work as part of the drilling crew.

The project was implemented in nine months from development to industrial launch. Assembly of the rig on site takes up to twenty days and is performed by trained personnel without involving third-party installation teams.

According to company representatives, the new drilling rig belongs to a generation of mobile complexes with increased efficiency. The design incorporates solutions that allow for faster movement between clusters, reduced dismantling and assembly time, and increased work safety.

The rig is equipped with a "Slider" moving system, a digital drilling control complex, five-plunger pumps, a top drive, and an automated drilling wrench. The pumping equipment's power reaches 1600 horsepower with an operating pressure of up to 52 MPa.

The company emphasized that the introduction of the new rig is aimed at accelerating well commissioning and increasing the efficiency of field development, where technologies for working with hard-to-recover reserves are increasingly used. The reduction in the drilling rig relocation cycle, according to project estimates, exceeds a twofold indicator compared to previous generations of rigs.
