Specialists from the STAN holding (part of Rostec) have developed a workpiece changing device for high-precision portal 5-axis machining centers 2000 VH, produced by NPO "Stankostroenie". The new equipment will allow automatic changing of parts weighing up to 4 tons in the machine's working area, the state corporation's press service reported.
The device project was developed at NPO "Stankostroenie". Its dimensions are 1.6×1.6 m. This is the first comprehensive solution in Russia for automating heavy machine building, said Valery Zinov, chief designer of NPO "Stankostroenie".
The development is aimed at replacing foreign equipment in critical industries such as aircraft manufacturing, as well as in the defense-industrial complex.
Mikhail Isupov, Managing Director of NPO "Stankostroenie", added that the company's goal is to replace the products of foreign manufacturers such as DMG MORI (Japan), Mazak (Japan), Doosan (South Korea), as well as Chinese competitors, in the Russian market.
The workpiece changing device helped to fully automate the 2000 VH machining center. Thanks to the modernization, the machine allows processing large parts with high precision.
The 2000VH is equipped with numerical control (NC) for drilling, reaming (semi-finishing mechanical cutting for increasing diameter), thread cutting with taps and mills, boring holes and grooves. It is used for working with engine parts, pump housings, and large frames.
