Renat Mistakhov, CEO of the "Ak Bars" Shipbuilding Corporation, announced at the "Fleet-2026" International Naval Show that the company's enterprises are ready to produce up to eight high-speed passenger hydrofoil vessels "Meteor-2020" annually. However, the lack of a stable order portfolio currently prevents an increase in production volumes.
According to the head of the company, existing production capacities allow for the production of six to eight vessels of this type annually. However, the workload of the enterprises remains uneven, so the industry's potential is not fully utilized.
Mistakhov noted that a separate program for the development of the high-speed passenger fleet would significantly help increase construction volumes. He recalled that during the Soviet period, the A. M. Gorky Zelenodolsk Plant produced up to 12 "Meteors" per year when faced with similar tasks.
The "Meteor" belongs to the class of high-speed passenger hydrofoil vessels and is designed for daytime transportation on navigable rivers, lakes, and freshwater reservoirs. Since the start of production in 1961, more than 400 such vessels have been built at the Zelenodolsk Plant. More than three dozen vessels were also operated outside Russia.
