The Roblox story clearly shows how a foreign online service can return to Russia, said presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov. The official Kremlin representative answered the question of whether Telegram, YouTube, and Meta* services (the corporation is recognized as an extremist organization and its activities are prohibited in the Russian Federation) can return to the country if they guarantee compliance with legislative requirements.
The Ministry of Digital Development previously announced that Roblox complied with Russian legislation requirements to ensure user safety. In early June, the agreement with the corporation on conditions for protecting Russian users was finalized.
Roblox is an online platform where users can play, create their own game worlds, and communicate within them. The service is popular among children and teenagers, so user safety and content moderation issues were separately discussed around it.
Access to Roblox in Russia was restricted in early December 2025. Roskomnadzor explained this by the dissemination of materials containing propaganda and justification of extremist and terrorist activities. Sergey Boyarsky, head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, later stated that the platform had worked on its mistakes, heard the regulator's demands, guaranteed user safety, and addressed claims and threats.
