"Heroes of Tuman": New Marine Drone Tested in the Arctic

The boat developed by "NPK Progress" has a payload capacity of 1 ton

In the Murmansk region, project tests of the new unmanned boat "Geroi Tumana" (Heroes of Tuman), designed for autonomous cargo transportation in Arctic conditions, have been successfully completed. The development aims to solve one of the key challenges of the northern territories – to ensure rapid delivery of goods to remote settlements where traditional logistics are often associated with high costs and difficult weather conditions.

The project was implemented by the Murmansk company "NPK Progress". As one of the promising areas of application, the developers are considering supplying the city of Ostrovnoy and other hard-to-reach settlements in the region located along the Northern Sea Route.

The unmanned boat has a hull length of 5.08 meters and can carry up to one ton of payload. On the main fuel tank, the vessel can travel up to 130 kilometers, and with an additional fuel supply, the range increases to 300 kilometers. The maximum speed reaches 60 km/h. A 90-horsepower engine is used as the power plant.

Several communication channels are provided for platform control: radio control, satellite communication, and fiber-optic channel. This approach allows the boat to be used in various operating scenarios, including areas with complex navigation conditions and limited infrastructure.

The project's name is associated with the memory of the heroic patrol ship "Tuman", which distinguished itself during the Great Patriotic War. The crew's feat is immortalized in the Murmansk region, including in the name of one of the streets in the city of Polyarny.
