The appearance of the new Umo 8 hybrid crossover was first revealed as part of the launch of the new Umo car brand, created by Yandex and EVM for the Russian market. The model is a localized version of the Chinese GAC S7 and will be produced by large-unit assembly at the Moskvich plant.
In terms of design, the Umo 8 repeats the silhouette of the original Chinese crossover: it is a large SUV with a massive front end, a high hood line, and an elongated body. The exterior has been preserved almost without radical changes, but adapted for the new brand and the local market. The main emphasis is on the “digital” presentation and visual recognition of the model in the Umo lineup.
Technically, the crossover uses a hybrid scheme with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine, which acts as a generator and is not directly connected to the wheels. Movement is provided by two electric motors with a total output of about 340 hp. This format makes the model a series hybrid with an emphasis on electric traction.
It is separately stated that the Russian version will receive adaptation for cold climates, as well as a redesigned multimedia system and telematics services. Sales start dates and prices have not yet been announced, but the Chinese donor, which is currently sold for approximately 5.9 million rubles, serves as a benchmark.
