A multi-purpose Mi-2 helicopter manufactured in 1985 has been put up for sale in Russia. The cost of the aircraft is 6.5 million rubles, which is comparable to the price of a new large crossover in the Russian market. The announcement was placed by the owner from Chemalsky District of the Altai Republic. According to him, the helicopter is in working condition and is accompanied by a complete set of logbooks and technical documentation.
The Mi-2 holds a special place in the history of Soviet helicopter construction. The machine was developed by Mikhail Mil's design bureau in the early 1960s and became the first Soviet helicopter originally designed for civilian use with gas turbine engines. In addition, the Mi-2 is considered the world's first light helicopter equipped with two gas turbine power plants.
In different years, these helicopters were used for passenger transportation, ambulance flights, agricultural work, patrolling, and performing official tasks. According to NATO classification, the model received the designation Hoplite.
The market for used aircraft in Russia remains quite niche, but advertisements for the sale of airplanes and helicopters periodically appear in the public domain. The cost of such machines depends not only on age, but also on technical condition, aggregate resource, operational history, and availability of documents. Against this background, the price of the Mi-2 for sale looks relatively affordable for aviation equipment and comparable to the cost of some new mass-segment cars.
