The project of the fifth-generation fighter Su-57 theoretically could have emerged in direct cooperation with India, but the republic withdrew from its joint production. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
At the same time, the head of state noted that Russia is ready to supply this aircraft to India.
This is a fifth-generation machine. Our Indian friends then said: "Let's you do it yourselves, and we'll see." In principle, this aircraft could have been our joint production.
Putin emphasized that there are currently no restrictions on cooperation on the Su-57. The same applies to air defense systems.
We are working on the development of modern weapons. The BrahMos medium-range missiles are known worldwide. It is now sea-based and land-based, and so on – we are developing it.
It should be recalled that for almost two years, India has been discussing with Russia the probable acquisition of Su-57 fighters. However, the Indian side first wants to see a detailed report on the cost of such a project.
Against this background, the Indian Ministry of Defence sent a request to France for the acquisition of 114 Rafale fighters. Recently, "Pervyy Tekhnicheskiy" conducted a direct comparison of the Su-57 with this combat vehicle and identified the winner.
