The light helicopter AP-55 has successfully completed its bench test program and is now preparing for its first flight. Serial production of the rotorcraft from the "Avia-Proekt" design bureau will be carried out at the facilities of the Dagestani enterprise KEMZ.
The AP-55 belongs to the class of light multi-purpose helicopters and is designed to carry up to five people. The project was created as a universal platform for solving a wide range of tasks – from passenger transportation and tourist routes to patrol operations and pilot training.
The helicopter's maximum speed reaches 260 km/h, and its flight range is up to 600 kilometers. The developers consider the machine as a solution for the civilian market and government agencies, including rescue services.
The helicopter is intended for routes with limited infrastructure, where a combination of compactness, efficiency, and sufficient range is required. According to the developers from KB "Avia-Proekt", with serial production at the KEMZ concern's facilities, the machine should fill the niche of a universal light helicopter, in demand in both the civilian sector and among departmental customers.
