A number of projects for the creation of new and modernization of existing production facilities for products based on rare and rare earth metals (REM) are at various stages of implementation — from geological exploration and construction and installation works to reaching industrial operation. This was stated by the head of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Anton Alikhanov, on the sidelines of the SPIEF.
Some projects are already close to launch.
In particular, this year it is planned to launch a mining and processing complex (GOK) at the Yermakovsky fluorite-beryllium deposit. It is located in the Kizhinginsky district of Buryatia (160 km from Ulan-Ude).
According to Alikhanov, the implementation of the project by the company "Germaniy i prilozheniya" for extracting germanium from ash and slag materials at the Pavlovsky deposit (Spetsugli site in Primorsky Krai) continues. Developers are preparing for industrial production of germanium concentrate.
Work in this direction will help reduce Russia's dependence on imports for a wide range of critical products, as well as create a foundation for the development of high-tech industries until 2030, the head of the department concluded.
