The majority of Russians (almost 80%) would use the services of an android (humanoid robot) in a bank branch. This is confirmed by the results of a sociological survey by VTB, conducted on the eve of SPIEF-2026.
According to the research materials, 74% of respondents are ready to receive information from a robot about deposit conditions, 57% — to open an account or order a bank card, and 61% — to report fraud. However, 34% of Russians would not trust a robot with loan or mortgage processing, and another 47% would not want a machine to handle complaint resolution.
This indicates that in complex, emotionally charged situations, people still rely on human involvement.
The robotization of the banking system can lead to a number of problems, including technical failures, personal data leaks, and job losses for employees, Russians believe. If a financial institution uses androids, this will not affect the trust of 52% of respondents, for 14% of respondents the level of trust will increase, and for 22% — it will decrease.
At the same time, most clients have long interacted with robotic systems: voice assistants, chatbots, ATMs, and terminals. Russians had the least contact with delivery robots (13%) and consultants (9%).
VTB management believes that humanoid robots could take over routine tasks, leaving more complex ones to humans. Such a hybrid model would be in demand, the bank is confident.
The sociological survey was conducted in May 2026. About 1,500 people aged 18 to 65 participated in it.
