"Iskander-M1" Reaches Record Range of 2500 km

The complex uses new 9M729 missiles

The modernized operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) "Iskander-M1" has increased its target engagement range to 2500 km. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Voenny Osvedomitel".

The system uses 9M729 aeroballistic missiles with a high-impulse solid-propellant engine. It provides a maximum speed of 7–8.5 Mach in the active phase.

Alexander Stepanov, a specialist at the Institute of Law and National Security of RANEPA, explained that each "Iskander-M1" launcher is armed with four launch containers instead of the previous two.

This provides the capability for a simultaneous massive dispersed salvo from one division using 16 high-precision cruise missiles.

Military expert Evgeny Damantsev specified that the 9M723-2 missile version can carry cluster or high-explosive fragmentation warheads weighing up to 350 kg.
