KRET Concern and KAMAZ (both part of Rostec) presented the FORA EZS-DC-4M fast charging station with a capacity of 160 kW at the "Transportfest" festival in St. Petersburg. According to the state corporation's press service, the equipment is designed specifically for night charging of new generation A5 electric buses and was shown for the first time in conjunction with the KAMAZ-52222 electric bus. It takes about 2.5 hours to fully recharge.
The station operates in the most powerful international Mode 4 according to the CCS protocol, delivering up to 750 volts and 250 amperes. The multi-level protection system includes automatic circuit breakers for overload, a residual current device, a surge arrester, as well as shock and door opening sensors. Authorization is via an RFID card or a mobile application.
The casing is designed for operation at temperatures from -30 to +45 °C and humidity up to 95%, communication with external systems is via GSM and Ethernet.
According to KRET CEO Alexander Pan, the cost of the station is "many times cheaper than classic models of ultra-fast pantograph-type charging stations." For a city fleet where electric buses return to the depot for the night, this scheme is optimal: the equipment does not lose time for recharging during the day, and energy is purchased at the night rate. This reduces operating costs and extends battery life, as night charging occurs without overheating and peak loads.
Earlier, the KAMAZ-52229 gas bus and the KAMAZ-52222 electric bus were shown at the "TransportFest" festival.
