Sevmash Completes Hull Formation of Floating Dock "Sukhona"

The powerful structure with a lifting capacity of 23.5 thousand tons will accelerate the launching and repair of large vessels

At the USC Sevmash enterprise, the hull formation of the floating dock "Sukhona" is nearing completion. In the filling basin, specialists have joined the middle and stern sections of the structure, while simultaneously forming two sub-blocks of the bow section.

The main task of "Sukhona" is to ensure the safe transfer of vessels under construction and repair from slipway No. 2 to the shipyard's waters. The launching capacity of the structure is 23.5 thousand tons, which allows working with large-tonnage objects.

Currently, sections above the safety deck are being installed on the stern and middle blocks, and the loading of pipes for ballast-dewatering systems is underway. After assembly is complete, "Sukhona" will become a key element of Sevmash's production infrastructure, expanding the shipyard's capabilities for building and servicing nuclear submarines and surface vessels.

The work is being carried out as part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation's dock program with the support of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade. The laying of the object took place on April 26, 2024.
