Belarus raises nuclear forces on alert

Minsk involved missile forces and aviation in the exercises

Exercises on the use of nuclear weapons involving missile forces and aviation have begun in Belarus. The start of the training was announced by the country's Ministry of Defense.

The military is practicing the delivery of nuclear munitions, their preparation for potential use, and interaction with the Russian side. The maneuvers also check the readiness of weapons, equipment, and personnel to perform tasks from unprepared areas within the country.

The Ministry of Defense of Belarus reported that special attention will be paid to secrecy, long-distance movement of units, and calculations for the use of forces and means.

According to the agency, the exercises are proceeding as planned within the framework of the Union State and are not directed against other states.

It should be recalled that Russian tactical nuclear weapons have been deployed in Belarus since 2023. However, control over the nuclear warheads remains with the Russian military.

In addition, at the end of 2025, the Russian missile system "Oreshnik", capable of using both conventional and nuclear warheads, was put on combat duty in Belarus.
