50 tons instead of 16: UAZ finishes upgrading a workshop with 6 presses for Sollers

The company is launching a line for new SUVs

At the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ), the installation of a new press line is being completed, which will ensure the production of body parts for Sollers pickups and SUVs. The work is supervised by Governor Alexey Russkikh, and funding comes from a preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund.

In the frame building, the foundation for the sixth press with a force of 2500 tons is already being prepared. In May, workers will pour a concrete slab in the first and second spans, and a 50-ton crane will be installed to move heavy dies. Five presses are undergoing test runs and will soon be fully operational. Simultaneously, builders are dismantling old air ducts and a sixteen-ton crane, and tidying up the eastern facade of the workshop.

The project cost is 1.1 billion rubles. Of these, 800 million the plant received as a preferential loan from the Industrial Development Fund. These funds accelerated equipment replacement and increased the share of Russian components in body production.

In the next two years, Sollers will allocate more than 12 billion rubles for site modernization and model range updates. Already in the third quarter of 2026, modernized UAZ vehicles with new engines and lighting equipment will go on sale. In 2026–2027, serial assembly of the Sollers S9 SUV will be launched, and construction of a new paint shop will begin. Welding lines for Sollers vehicles and a seat production workshop have also started operating at the enterprise.
