20 Miners and Off-Grid Connection: New Crypto Farm Discovered in Dagestan

The total load of illegally connected equipment reached 70 kW

In the village of Balakhani, Untsukulsky District, Dagestan, law enforcement and energy specialists discovered another illegal mining farm. During a raid, 20 cryptocurrency mining devices were found in the premises, connected to the power grid without a contract.

According to the Ministry of Energy of Dagestan, the total capacity of the equipment reached 70 kW. Law enforcement officers, energy specialists, an operational group, and representatives of the UEBIPK (Department for Economic Security and Anti-Corruption) visited the site. All equipment was seized.

Regional authorities note that illegal mining remains a serious problem for the local energy system. Underground crypto farms create an increased load on networks, overload transformer substations, and increase the risk of emergency outages and fires.

Residents of Dagestan were asked to report possible signs of mining farm operation — for example, loud equipment noise, overheating of premises, or unusually high electricity consumption.
