Two Russian satellites, "Kosmos-2581" and "Kosmos-2583", performed an extremely precise rendezvous in orbit. The distance between them was reduced to approximately 3 meters.
According to analytical company COMSPOC, the maneuver occurred on April 28 and was accompanied by active trajectory corrections of one of the spacecraft to maintain a tight configuration.
It was later revealed that a group of four objects participated in the operation: "Kosmos-2581", "Kosmos-2582", "Kosmos-2583", and a separated unknown object F.
Recall that the satellites were launched in February 2025 using a "Soyuz" rocket in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defence. The official purpose of the spacecraft is not disclosed.
A few days ago, the head of the US Space Command, General Stephen Whiting, stated that Russian spacecraft would be able to shoot down other satellites.
