Russians are less likely to update appliances: the household appliance market went into the red

Only two out of five largest companies were able to increase revenue by the end of 2025

The Russian household appliance market continued to decline: by the end of 2025, the total revenue of the largest manufacturers decreased by 11.6% and amounted to 209.2 billion rubles. This is evidenced by data from Kontur.Focus analysts.

The largest manufacturers included companies producing appliances under the brands Haier, LG, Beko, Indesit, Hotpoint, and Biryusa. However, only two of the five largest companies were able to increase turnover – the Russian Biryusa and the manufacturer of Indesit and Hotpoint appliances.

The most noticeable decline was shown by Beko – the Russian division of the Turkish holding Arcelik. The company's revenue decreased by approximately 35%. At the same time, the Lipetsk manufacturer of Indesit and Hotpoint appliances increased its performance by almost 38%, which could have been facilitated by the reorganization of business within the group.

Experts attribute the overall market decline to changes in consumer behavior. Buyers began to choose cheaper appliances more often or postpone updating household appliances altogether. The situation was also affected by the high key rate, expensive loans, and a decrease in demand against the backdrop of a slowdown in housing construction.

Additional pressure is created by marketplaces and parallel imports, which have intensified price competition and shifted the market towards more affordable models. According to industry participants, previously up to 30% of appliances in Russia were purchased on credit.

At the same time, individual manufacturers were able to strengthen their positions due to localization and a focus on the economy segment. For example, Biryusa benefits from lower production costs and the absence of customs duties on finished products.

Despite the weak results of 2025, market participants are already seeing signs of recovery. M.Video reported that in the first quarter of 2026, sales of large household appliances increased by 22.5% in units. Experts expect the market to grow by 3-5% by the end of the year, although the risks of new price increases due to VAT and a possible shortage of components remain.
