Five-day missile tests launched at Kura proving ground in Kamchatka

Movement of equipment in the exercise area is prohibited

Missile exercises have begun at the Kura test site of the Russian Aerospace Forces Space Forces, located in the Ust-Kamchatsky District. The movement of people and equipment in this area has been prohibited, the press service of the Kamchatka Krai government reported.

The Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation warns residents of the region about tests being conducted from May 6 to May 10 inclusive.

Local residents were asked to refrain from visiting nearby territories. However, neither the Kamchatka Krai government nor the Russian Ministry of Defence specified which missiles would be launched.

Kamchatka is the main region for testing Soviet and Russian intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). R-7, "Satan" (R-36M2), "Yars", "Topol-M" missiles were tested here. According to open sources, the Kura proving ground is used to check the accuracy of warhead impacts.
