Russia built 1.3 times more tanks than the US

Russia has about 3.4 thousand combat vehicles in service, while the US has up to 2.6 thousand.

The International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in the new edition of the Military Balance handbook presented an up-to-date assessment of the number of tanks in the largest countries. Russia surpasses the US in the number of vehicles in service and maintains the largest tank fleet among European countries.

The US has approximately 2,640 M1A2 Abrams tanks. According to the international institute's assessment, Russia's fleet is approximately 1.3 times larger than the American one.

China maintains the largest number – about 4,700 vehicles, but a significant part of this fleet belongs to earlier generations.
