Russia Expands Composition of Air Border Defense Forces

Laser systems, interceptor drones, and radio frequency weapons officially added to air defense system

Russian authorities have officially expanded the list of armaments and equipment included in the air defense forces. It now includes special means for combating drones, including laser counter-UAV systems and interceptor drones.

The list also provides for the use of radio frequency weapon systems and unified launchers. Along with them, anti-aircraft systems, aviation, ships, and electronic warfare assets continue to operate within the system.

Separately, the decree mentions radio-technical means and automation systems responsible for radar reconnaissance and transmitting information about the air situation to military units.

The new measures are aimed at strengthening the country's airspace protection amidst the growing role of unmanned systems.
