AvtoVAZ launched robots to install panoramic roof on Lada Azimut

Installation now takes about four minutes

AvtoVAZ has implemented a robotic section on its main conveyor for installing panoramic roofs on the Lada Azimut crossover. The new equipment is installed on the line where the Lada Aura and Vesta are also assembled, and will accelerate and automate one of the key stages in the production of the new model. This was reported by the company's press service.

The system is designed for mounting panoramic glazing and a sliding sunroof, which will be one of the features of the Lada Azimut. AvtoVAZ noted that approximately 40% of the vehicles of this model produced will be equipped with this option, primarily available in higher trim levels.

A separate conveyor section allows installation without stopping the main assembly flow. The car body is redirected to the installation area, where a robotic manipulator precisely positions the glass roof along the guides. Fastening is performed by automatic nutrunners, and the entire process takes about four minutes.

The equipment was designed and launched by a Russian contractor that works with most car manufacturers in the country. Previously, the enterprise also introduced laser welding of car bodies designed for panoramic roofs.

Lada Azimut will be the brand's first model with such a roof design and sliding sunroof, expanding the list of technological solutions in the brand's lineup.
