"Sibur" to Launch Catalyst Factory in Kazan

The new enterprise will provide petrochemicals with key components for polymers

In 2027, the first phase of the catalyst factory from "Sibur" company will begin operations in Kazan. This was announced by Board Member and Executive Director Pavel Lyakhovich.

Construction of the site began in June 2025. The project is currently on schedule: funding is secured, and the main equipment has either already been delivered or is en route. The first line to be launched will be for the production of chromium catalysts – over 11 billion rubles in investments will be directed to it.

Concurrently, the engineering team is preparing design documentation for the remaining production lines. Decisions on launching metallocene and titanium catalysts, as well as silica gel as a carrier for catalytic systems, will be made sequentially by the company in 2026–2027.

Catalysts are a key tool for controlling the properties of polymers. Their quality determines how precisely the product range can be tailored to the demands of various industries: from packaging and automotive to medicine and electronics.

The planned capacity of the Kazan factory is 1 thousand tons per year, which will allow it to cover part of the domestic demand and reduce dependence on imported analogues.
