North Korea is considering purchasing Russian Su-35 fighters. According to Military Watch Magazine, this could involve a batch of 12–14 aircraft with a total value of about one billion dollars.
The authors of the material claim that the combat vehicles will replace the outdated MiG-29 and Su-25, which currently form the basis of the DPRK's combat aviation.
The Su-35 belongs to the "4++" generation and is equipped with modern radars, thrust vectoring engines, and enhanced weaponry. In terms of its capabilities, it significantly surpasses the aircraft in service with North Korea.
MWM added that Russia has increased the production rate of the Su-35, which theoretically opens up opportunities for new export contracts.
Recall that the main foreign operator of the Su-35 is China. These aircraft are also in service with the Ethiopian army.
