"Zircon" missiles in "Varshavyanka" began to be loaded without "dancing with a tambourine"

Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin: an important feature of Project 636.3 was the unification of launchers

Thanks to the unification of the launchers, the ammunition in Project 636.3 “Varshavyanka” submarines has been learned to be loaded without any difficulties. This was stated by Captain 1st Rank Vasily Dandykin.

According to him, the “Varshavyanka” also plays a huge role in its low visibility, thanks to which the submarines literally dissolve into the natural noise of the ocean. This is aided by a hull made of polymer coatings and titanium, which absorbs enemy sonar signals and dampens noise.

From “Onyx” to “Zircon” – a whole zoo of weapons can be loaded into the boat's shafts without dancing with a tambourine. Domestic boats are also characterized by high automation and the ability to operate at greater depths than comparable enemy models.

Dandykin emphasized that special rescue capsules are now installed in new machines so that in case of flooding, the crew can surface and survive. Such technologies, for example, are not available on American submarines.

Project 636 “Varshavyanka” submarines are a family of diesel-electric submarines developed in Russia (USSR) based on Project 877 “Paltus”. They are known for their exceptional stealth and high combat effectiveness, for which they earned the nickname “Black Hole” in the West.
