Smart traffic lights against traffic jams: Rostec's new DS7-Lite is being tested in the Urals

6 devices have been installed in Yekaterinburg; a total of 20 units will be sent to the region

Shvabe Holding (part of Rostec) has developed new DS7-Lite traffic lights. Six such devices have already been installed on the streets of Yekaterinburg for trial operation, which will continue until the end of 2026. In total, 20 units of this lighting equipment are planned to be sent to Sverdlovsk Region. The equipment is manufactured by the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMP), which is part of Shvabe.

Over the course of several months, specialists will assess how the new traffic lights affect intersection capacity and road safety. The design of the DS7-Lite makes it possible to equip them with control modules, animated indication, and audible alerts for visually impaired pedestrians. The traffic lights can also become part of an intelligent transport system.

Rostec noted that the new model is optimal in terms of price-to-quality ratio. It is lighter, cheaper than its predecessors, easier to operate, and consumes significantly less electricity. If necessary, the traffic lights can be additionally equipped with digital control modules, a brightness regulator, and other options. Earlier, UOMP had already supplied customers with about 2,000 traffic lights of various modifications, which operate in seven regions of Russia and in CIS countries.
