The well-known Molniya-2 kamikaze drone has been modernized and turned into a reconnaissance aircraft. The Molniya-R version of the drone is equipped with a higher capacity battery, jam-resistant digital communication and a digital camera with 32x optical zoom.
The drone performs tasks at high altitudes with a reconnaissance depth of up to 40 km.
The Molniya-R version is designed to identify enemy manpower, movement of equipment, location of enemy strongholds and their timely suppression.
The Molniya-2, which became the basis for the new version, is a strike drone of the aircraft type. It is launched using a catapult, and controlled using a remote control and special glasses, as in the case of FPV drones.
The basic version of Molniya-2 is also evolving. Recently, the military received a modification with artificial intelligence and new types of ammunition for autonomous target acquisition and subsequent attack.
The built-in autopilot mode allows the device to maintain its course and perform the task even when attempting to jam communication.
