The latest "Granit-3M" protection system has been submitted for field testing. It was developed by the "Tekhincom" scientific and production company from the Kalashnikov concern structure. The main innovation is a significantly increased area of anti-fragmentation protection for the chest, back, shoulders and sides. This was achieved through anatomical cut and extended sections in the shoulder blade and shoulder girdle area.
The designers eliminated the typical problem of body armor - gaps between the protective elements. The screens on the chest, back and shoulders are connected overlapping, and the side panels are made as high as possible. Thanks to the new layout, the fighter's body is protected from fragments almost around the entire perimeter. At the same time, the vest remained compatible with all Russian armor plates from the first to the fourth size.
Currently, the "Granit-3M" will undergo a cycle of practical tests. Specialists will identify possible shortcomings and refine the design before mass production. At the same time, the company is creating additional neck and shoulder protection modules - they will completely cover the neck and shoulder below the joint.
