Marines of the Northern Fleet performed parachute jumps from a Mi-8 helicopter. Airborne training exercises took place in the Murmansk region. This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet.
D-6 and D-10 parachute systems, designed for mass landings, and Arbalet-1 and Arbalet-2 special-purpose parachute systems, designed for landing special forces groups, are used to practice practical skills.
Before the jumps, the marines studied the parachute system, the packing procedure, the fitting of equipment, and the attachment of weapons.
The soldiers practiced landing skills on limited areas in difficult weather conditions in full combat gear and with standard weapons. Jumps were made in various altitude ranges. After landing, training exercises were conducted to defend the landing area.
About the D-6 parachute system
The D-6 landing parachute was adopted in the 1980s. The system underwent 8 years of testing, confirming its high reliability.
The parachute is designed for training and combat jumps. The D-6 is automatically activated and provides a stable descent with a safe landing from altitudes of 200–8000 m. The area of its canopy is 83 square meters.
