From May 2026, Sberbank will introduce updated principles for serving customers receiving pensions on cards. The changes do not affect the payments themselves, but concern the control of transactions, digital services, and the status of cards that have not been used for a long time.
Transaction control will become stricter: large withdrawals, transfers to unfamiliar accounts, and atypical payments will be checked more carefully. In such cases, the bank may temporarily stop the transaction and contact the cardholder to reduce the risk of fraud, especially for elderly customers.
Card settings are increasingly being transferred to SberBank Online. Users will be able to independently limit transaction amounts, connect notifications, and enhance login protection. At the same time, SMS and service in offices are preserved.
If a card has not been used for a long time, the bank may assign it an inactive status. The client will be offered to reissue the card or close the account — this is done to streamline "forgotten" accounts.
Pensions are still accrued by the Social Fund of Russia, the timing of receipt of money does not change, you can withdraw cash or contact the branch without restrictions. Experts advise pensioners and their relatives not to transfer confirmation codes to third parties and, in case of suspicious calls, to contact the bank independently through official contacts.
