Hunting "Lyutyi" and "Morok": Tests of an automatic turret based on the PKT machine gun shown online

The new Russian complex automatically targets the target, but the operator pulls the trigger

Footage of tests of a new Russian automated turret anti-aircraft machine gun complex based on a 7.62-mm PKT machine gun has appeared online. It was created by domestic specialists to effectively combat long-range kamikaze drones of the FP-2, An-196 "Lyutyi" and "Morok" types. Simple plywood "Gerbera" drones of Russian production acted as targets at the training ground.

The system itself tracks the target, but the decision to open fire is still made by the operator. The declared range of destruction is from 100 to 500 meters.

Each turret is equipped with its own optoelectronic sight with infrared and television channels plus a laser rangefinder. All this works together with a ballistic computer and artificial intelligence modules. The name of the complex and the name of the manufacturer are still kept secret.

In modern conditions, when kamikaze drones have become a serious threat on the front line, the development of appropriate countermeasures is becoming extremely important. Installations of this kind will be able to effectively cope with the task of neutralizing "dead zones" at low and medium altitudes, where the use of traditional anti-aircraft missiles may be economically impractical or technically difficult.
