Heavy drone weighing 750 kg and three times cheaper than analogues created in Russia

Engineers at Equvision used AI to drastically reduce development costs

Russian engineers have developed a prototype of a heavy drone, the cost of which turned out to be three times lower than similar solutions. The price was reduced through the use of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, said Timur Enileev, Director of Product and Investment at Equvision.

The device is designed for transporting goods and working at remote industrial facilities, including deposits. The octocopter has a take-off weight of 750 kg and is capable of carrying up to 150 kg of payload.

The project was initially created taking into account the requirements of Russian and international aviation regulators. We focused on certifying the device as a civil aircraft, as well as on a high level of production localization.

According to him, additive technologies and AI-based solutions played a key role in reducing the cost. They were used both at the design stage and in the production of components.

The developers have already completed the creation of the propeller-motor group and are preparing the device for field tests. Prototypes of the power plant are planned to be presented in 2026, and full certification of the unmanned system is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
