Russia lacks production facilities and test benches for testing engines of the PD-35 project. This was reported by the United Engine Corporation.
UEC noted that the diameter of the power plant's fan alone is more than three meters.
For this reason, the managing director — general designer of "UEC-Aviadvigatel" Alexander Inozemtsev proposed expanding the testing and production base in Perm.
Currently, there is only one open test bench in the country where aircraft engines with a thrust of up to 50 tons can be tested. There are no analogues to it in Russia.
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to "First Technical" that the PD-35 engine will become the pinnacle of technology, and its development is more complex than a space rocket.
Aviation engineer Valery Ageev stated that the PD-35 does not yet live up to the high expectations, delivering a thrust of only about 26 tons instead of the promised 35-40 tons.
