At the KAMAZ engine plant in Naberezhnye Chelny, it was possible to increase the conveyor speed by 7%, and also reduce the number of defects associated with power steering pump leaks by 90%. This was announced by the company's executives, led by General Director Sergey Kogogin, at an on-site meeting dedicated to quality.
The meeting discussed technical innovations introduced since the beginning of the year, which are aimed at increasing productivity, improving product quality and ensuring safety in the workplace.
The restructuring affected the assembly areas of engines, power units and transfer cases. The "Andon" system has been launched on the line for joining units. The tool shows the masters the real time for each operation. Specialists can immediately transfer workers to complex units, preventing downtime.
At the same time, engineers updated the test boxes for transfer cases, which are tested together with power steering pumps. The new testing conditions immediately eliminate defects at an early stage. Thanks to this, the leakage rate of the working fluid has decreased almost 10 times. Technical improvements have clearly confirmed that local changes in equipment directly improve the final product quality.
