The Ministry of Industry and Trade expects the certification of the VK-800 engine and AV-901 propeller for the Baikal aircraft in December 2026. This follows from the presentation of the head of the department, Anton Alikhanov, at the international transport and logistics forum.
At the same time, the presentation has a caveat that the final deadlines still depend on the comments of the certifying authority, in this case, Rosaviatsiya and the Aviation Register.
To speed up production, the Ural Civil Aviation Plant has started building a new foundry. Its dimensions are striking — 17 thousand square meters, or three football fields.
The implementation of the Baikal project in Russia hinges on economic feasibility. Small aviation companies cannot afford to buy aircraft at a price of more than 200 million rubles, said Oleg Smirnov, chairman of the Civil Aviation Commission of the Public Council of Rostransnadzor.
"The First Technical" analyzed in detail how the price of LMS-901 has changed over time.
