Russia Completes "Nucleon": Nuclear Engine Will Bring Distant Space Closer

Russia has completed the project of a space complex based on the "Nucleon" nuclear power plant. This was announced by the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Bakanov.

According to him, engineers continue research on creating a nuclear rocket engine that will reduce the duration of flight to distant planets.

The contract for the development of the "Nucleon" project within the framework of the Zeus nuclear tug was concluded back in 2020. Its cost is more than 4.17 billion rubles. The Scientific Mission is being developed by the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov announced Russia's plans to explore Venus as part of the study of deep space after the Moon. He emphasized that the country will need non-standard engineering solutions, and, importantly, serious money.
