A support farm, a key element of the reactor shaft of the third power unit under construction, was delivered to the site of the Leningrad NPP in Sosnovy Bor. The equipment was manufactured in Syzran and delivered by special transport.
The 150-ton structure was manufactured at the production site of Tyazhmash in Syzran. Specialized vehicles capable of withstanding oversized and heavy cargo were used for transportation. The route was agreed in advance so that the delivery would take place without delays.
After arrival, the farm passed the incoming inspection: specialists checked the integrity of the structure, compliance with the drawings and the quality of the welds. All parameters were normal, the equipment was approved for installation.
The installation of the support farm is scheduled for the summer period. Until that time, the builders will complete the concreting of three more tiers of the reactor shaft, install dry protection and thermal insulation of the hull, and install the lower plate of the melt trap device. These works will create the necessary base for safe and accurate installation of the farm.
The support farm takes the load from the reactor vessel and transfers it to the foundation. The reliability of the entire power unit structure depends on the quality of its installation.
