Bots Will Replace People: Talk of a "Dead Internet" in the State Duma

The development of AI may lead to a network where the main activity will be generated by neural networks

The "dead internet" theory, which was recently considered conspiracy, may be much closer to reality than it seemed. This was stated by Anton Gorelkin, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

According to him, the scenario in which the main part of the content on the network will be created not by people, but by neural networks, no longer looks like fantasy. In the future, the Internet may turn into an environment where bots not only generate texts and images, but also conduct discussions, leave comments, and interact with each other.

We are talking about the concept of the "dead internet," which appeared in the early 2020s. It suggests that a significant part of online content is already being created by algorithms, and the share of live human participation is gradually decreasing.

Now it looks like a hypothesis, but the development of AI and content automation makes this scenario increasingly realistic. If the trend continues, users may find themselves on a network where most of the "communication" takes place not between people, but between algorithms.
