MC-21 turned out to be assembled faster than Su-30SM: fitters are not queuing

The dimensions of the aircraft allow parallel assembly of systems

The large size of the fuselage of the new medium-range MC-21-310 aircraft allows the onboard systems to be assembled in parallel, which improves production. This was stated by Sergey Makhetov, the head of the final assembly shop at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant.

According to him, the liner has been completely digitized, all design documentation is in electronic form, in 3D models. If necessary, engineers can look up or study something in it.

The plane is big. If the military Su-30SM or Yak-130 are compact, sometimes the fitters are almost queuing to assemble them. One assembled his system, left the compartment - the second one entered. But here everything is simpler: the plane is big, you can assemble systems in parallel.

Alexander Milyutin, Deputy Head of ASP of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant, added that the aircraft assembly cycle takes several weeks from the start of the movement of the first panels to the transfer of compartments and docking with the wing.

MC-21 is designed to a greater extent for passenger comfort. Its fuselage is much wider than that of standard aircraft of this type.

The head of Rosaviatsia, Dmitry Yadrov, announced that the MC-21-310 in the future will replace Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. Let us remind you that the capacity of the aircraft depending on the configuration is from 163 to 211 passengers. The completion of the aircraft certification is expected at the end of this year.
