At the Kirishi State District Power Plant (PJSC "OGK-2"), one of the most complex stages of the reconstruction of turbine unit No. 4 has been completed. The installation team inserted a rotor weighing more than 29 tons inside the generator stator and installed it on bearings. Specialists have begun centering the equipment — the final adjustment before transferring it to permanent supports. The work was carried out under the supervision of the chief engineers of the manufacturing plant.
The peculiarity of the operation was that the installation was carried out in the operating workshop, where space is limited, and any movement of equipment requires the highest accuracy. In order to fit the large-sized rotor into confined conditions, it was inserted at a special angle. After removing the slings, further movement was carried out by a system of levers and hoists, controlling every millimeter of the path.
The replacement of turbine generator No. 4 is carried out within the framework of the state program for the competitive selection of modernized capacities (KOMMod). The goal of the project is to ensure a reliable and uninterrupted supply of thermal energy to consumers. The unit, put into operation in 1975, has worked more than 341 thousand hours. Its modernization will extend the life of the equipment and increase the efficiency of the station.
After completing the centering and fixing on permanent pads, the turbine unit will be prepared for commissioning and planned commissioning.
