The first body of the new Jeland brand was welded at the former General Motors plant in Shushary

Crossovers of the Jaecoo brand are being prepared for production. The plant's design capacity is 100,000 cars per year

The AGR holding announced an important stage in the launch of production at the former General Motors plant in Shushary, St. Petersburg. The first welded body for cars under the Jeland brand was manufactured here. This is a sub-brand created on the basis of models of the Chinese company Chery - in particular, crossovers known as Jaecoo J6, J7 and J8 are being prepared for production.

The preparation of the welding shop took a little over two months: during this time, the main equipment was installed, and it took less than a month to fine-tune it. Now the line is ready for serial operation.

The process is built sequentially. First, large units are formed from individual parts, then a solid body is assembled from them. Then hinged elements are installed - doors, hood and trunk lid. Before being sent to the paint shop, the body undergoes several control operations, and the final geometry check is performed on a high-precision measuring machine.

The equipment allows you to flexibly change the configuration. The welding line is designed for four basic models, each of which can be produced in several versions: with a standard or panoramic roof, with front or all-wheel drive. In total, up to 12 body options can be assembled on one line without lengthy retooling.

The design capacity of the plant in Shushary is up to 100,000 cars per year. The launch of welding and painting on site means a transition from knockdown assembly to deeper localization, which gives control over quality and reduces dependence on external supplies.
