Fixing Internet Problems Just Got Easier: "Internetometer" is Now an App

The service is already used by 5.5 million people

Yandex's "Internetometer" has a mobile version — now the service, which is used by about 5.5 million people every month, can be launched directly from a smartphone. This is not a new product, but a transfer of a familiar tool to a faster and more convenient format.

The functionality has not changed: the application measures download speed, upload speed, and latency. But in practice, this turns into a quick way to understand what is happening with the Internet — whether the video will load, whether the connection is stable, and where the dips begin. The same goes for the mobile network: you can quickly check whether it is an operator problem or a problem with a specific location.

In addition to numbers, the application shows connection details — from IP address to device parameters. This is no longer just a "speed test", but a basic diagnosis that is sufficient in most everyday scenarios.

The service is backed by Yandex infrastructure — measurements are taken through a distributed network of CDN servers across the country. The same network is used to deliver content for the company's services, so the results are closer to real user experience, rather than laboratory tests.

Providers and technical specialists have a separate interest. Yandex is already preparing an advanced measurement mode and personal accounts for telecom operators, where they can track the quality of the Internet in specific coverage areas.

As a result, a simple speed test tool is gradually turning into a full-fledged analytics layer: users get a quick way to understand what is happening with the Internet, and operators get additional data on the real quality of the network.
