For the construction of the Moscow — St. Petersburg high-speed railway, UMG provided a tracked mulcher model M-280. The unit, manufactured at the Tver plant "Eksmash", will be used for clearing the right-of-way.

The mulcher is designed to work in dense forests and rugged terrain. The unit effectively removes trees and shrubs, grinding them to the state of chips. This will significantly speed up the process of preparing the territory for the construction of the roadbed of the future railway.

The tracked base provides excellent cross-country ability even in swamps and weak soils. The Yaroslavl diesel engine with a power of 229 kW drives the hydrostatic transmission and the rotor with 44 wear-resistant cutters. They easily grind trunks up to 35 centimeters in diameter.

The cabin for two operators is fully protected from falling branches, control is via joysticks, the screen shows everything, including the image from the rear camera. The machine is equipped with an automatic fire extinguishing system. The mulcher operates at temperatures from minus 40 to plus 40 degrees.
