Anti-ship missiles of the coastal complex «Bal» have been taught to camouflage against the sea in flight. After launch, the Kh-35 descends and flies approximately 3–5 meters above the crest of the wave, reported «Krasnaya zvezda».
In bad weather, the missile becomes completely invisible, as the stormy sea creates a powerful radio background. Therefore, detecting the flight of the Kh-35 is practically impossible.
The chief of staff of the «Bal» complex division explained that the military is practicing the «wolf pack» tactic, when missiles can attack a target from different directions and coordinate their actions.
This overloads the air defense system. The target ship has practically no chance of survival.
As a reminder, «Bal» is designed to cover naval bases, as well as protect straits and coastlines. The complex has the ability to use both single missiles and launch a salvo of 32 subsonic missiles.
After reloading lasting up to 30–40 minutes, the complex is ready to make a repeat salvo. The range of the coastal missile system is more than 120 km. Thanks to the latest navigation system, «Bal» can quickly change launch positions.
