The multipurpose nuclear submarine K-561 Kazan (project 885M Yasen-M) fired an Onyx missile at a sea target in the Barents Sea. This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet.
The nuclear submarine fired from a submerged position. The cruise missile destroyed a target that designated a mock enemy ship. It was located at a distance of up to 300 km from Kazan.
Objective control data confirmed that the warhead of the Onyx missile hit the target. The firing area in the Barents Sea was closed to navigation. Security was provided by ships of the Northern Fleet.

The nuclear submarine was built at Sevmash (Severodvinsk) according to the design of the Malachite Design Bureau. The fourth-generation submarine has a reduced level of acoustic field.
Kazan carries high-precision long-range missile weapons. The cruiser can hit targets on land, above water, and under water.
