Gasostatic unit removed the main risk of PD-14 and PD-8: casting defects eliminated

GIP-2200 press processes critically loaded elements of gas turbine units

At the Ufa plant of UEC-UMPO, one of the key problems in the production of aircraft engines has been eliminated - internal pores and hidden defects in titanium and aluminum castings. They were solved by gasostatic pressing under high pressure and temperature, which increased the strength and service life of parts for PD-14 and PD-8.

Since 2024, the enterprise has been operating a hot isostatic press GIP-2200, which processes critically loaded elements of gas turbine engines.

Project Manager GIP of the "Corporation of Special Engineering" Denis Shishov said that the temperature and pressure parameters meet the technical requirements, operate stably, and the team conducts constant monitoring and provides engineering support.

The project is important from the point of view of import substitution and strengthening technological sovereignty. Only a few countries in the world have the competence to produce such equipment, and now they are in Russia. The creation of a domestic gasostatic unit allows us to reduce dependence on foreign suppliers of gasostatic services.
Denis Shishov, Head of the GIP Project

Engine parts after processing on the gasostatic unit exceed the stated characteristics by 30% and pass acceptance without exceptions.
