Colonel Reveals Specifications of the New "Oreshnik-2" Missile with 8 Warheads

Viktor Baranets: kinetic warheads will be able to penetrate to a depth of up to 30 meters

Work is indeed underway in Russia on a new hypersonic ballistic missile that will surpass the "Oreshnik" in power. Retired Colonel Viktor Baranets spoke about the technical characteristics of the munition, which some specialists have already begun calling "Oreshnik-2".

According to him, design engineers are paying special attention to communication mechanisms with satellites.

We are indeed building and testing a missile that will be more powerful than the "Oreshnik." It will have improved warhead power parameters. It is possible that there will no longer be six, but eight of the unique kinetic warheads themselves, capable of penetrating to a depth of up to 30 meters.

Baranets did not rule out that the missile system will be filled with an entirely new fuel and that fundamentally new components of the control system will be introduced.

Although it already works superbly in the "Oreshnik," they now want to bring it to perfection, where the deviation from the target will be zero.

Military expert Andrei Markin noted that work is underway in Russia on a missile with increased range or with new means of overcoming missile defense. According to his information, unofficially it is called "Oreshnik-2" or "Granit".
