At the Ulyanovsk plant of PAO "Il" — "Aviastar," the workforce has doubled, from 7 thousand to 13 thousand people. This growth is linked to increasing aircraft production, said Ulyanovsk Region Governor Alexei Russkikh.
We still have to recruit about 5 thousand more workers, and in the future up to 20 thousand, taking into account the existing program.
At the end of 2025, it became known that "Aviastar" would begin producing new aircraft — the Il-100 and Il-276. The former is positioned as a lighter and updated version of the Il-76, while the Il-100 is presented as a completely new military transport aircraft.
Oleg Panteleev, executive director of the AviaPort agency, told "First Technical" that the Il-276 could in the future prove to be in demand on the international market.
Aviation expert Roman Gusarov explained to "First Technical" that the Il-100 "Slon" is positioned as a potential replacement for the An-124 and is entering a niche where everything is already quite well covered by such aircraft.
Let us recall that "Aviastar" is already serially producing the modernized heavy military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A and aerial refueling tankers based on it — the Il-78M-90A.
